Address redirect application
This might be old information but we still would like to share because we think it is important.
For those who do not know this document is called Ten-ii todoke for which you use when you want to redirect current address to different one. This document is available in any JP post branch.
Among usual problem when BFG (back for good) to your country will be all important letter, utility bills etc will be sent to old address. Since you are no longer in Japan it will be difficult to attend to those. Normally we will asked help from friend to come and check our post box during early time after returning back because we do not want any important letter/bills missed.
Using Ten-ii todoke, instead of asking friends to check our post box weekly, we can just redirect all letter under our name from previous address to our friend address. Redirection will take 1 week to take effect upon request submission. So you will need to submit 1 week earlier before your last day in Japan to prevent missed out anything.
Check picture below on how to fill in this document. Online request also provided on JP Post website, but for non Japanese literate below method is the easiest I think.
